This interesting report tells about different stages of blastocystis (please do not panic, it is just indication of increased chance of cancer (if you not get rid of it, and most likely after many many years, and genetic disposition in addition)
Good photos of the devil using electron microscopy!

"The cyst form of the organism (figure 16 and 17) is normally round or oval in shape measuring 2.7μm to 3.1μm in diameter. It has a characteristic layered cell wall (figure 18), contains two nuclei and the cytoplasmic organelles include electron dense mitochondria. The cyst form is surrounded by other components of the intestinal content including bacteria but these do not appear to be adherent to the cell wall.
Transitional forms of vacuolar and cyst forms are found. These transitional forms have remnants of a vacuolar form and a cyst form. This includes the remnants of a surface coat (figure 20). This surface coat is sometimes disrupted (figure 19) and residual material is present between the surface coat and the cyst form (figure 19)."
IT ALSO HAS A CYST STAGE..cyst stages are typically quite resistent to Flagyl (Metrandinazol), Secnidazole and Tinidiazol.
This I think why you minimum need one medicine in addition that takes cyst stage also (like Dioxanide Furoate). Mono terpahy will typically not work I think, and yes this is why the Australian therapy is in place I guess
Do not worry about Blastocystis it is completely harmeless, it is cute, nice and your medical doctors best friend (as long as it is only the patient that has it :-)
