They may be trying to cover themselves by telling you officially that your sleep apnea is severe and it may cause your death. What I found in the end is that if you are overweight, weight loss is the key. I lost down from over 200 to 143 and it almost went away. I am back up a few pounds and it appears to be getting worse so I will lose some more weight.

I also believe that hormones have an influence.
