Here is the Heart Rate Variability device I ordered.  It is $249.

I use it every time I meditate, do Buteyko breathing and now coherence breathing.

Coherent Breathing does differ someone from Buteyko, but they have one thing in common, which is slow breathing

For coherence  breathing, they want you to take about 5 breathes per minute in order to create a perfect sine wave in your Heart Rate Variability (HRV).  And it does work.
http://www.coherence.com/science_html_production.htm

If you go slower than 5 breathes per minute, you will increase parasympathetic emphasis, but will be less coherent.

For Coherent Breathing, they aren’t even considering CO2 or “air hunger like Buteyko is.  However, if you breath slow, it is the opposite of hyper-ventilation, so basically it is similar to Buteyko.

The breathing pattern is different for Buteyko and Coherence breathing.

In Buteyko, they want you to take a quick/smooth 3 second inhale, and a long exhale, such as 15-20 seconds or more, depending on what you can handle.  They want you to focus on the relaxing exhale (which activates the parasympathetic nervous system).

Coherance breathing wants you to inhale and exhale the same length, 6 seconds smooth inhale and 6 seconds smooth exhale.

They look distinctly different in the HRV trends.  I’ll upload some screen shots later.

Magnesium Oil
When I discovered magnesium oil, and the fact that it bypasses the problem of poor absorption and loose stools, I was so happy I went overboard.

I was taking 2000 mg per day.  They are many site that say you can’t take too much unless you have kidney disease. I learned the hard way this is not entirely true.

The following link described the conditions that are prone to hypermagnesium.  Adrenal Insufficiency is listed.

And even for healthy people, high magnesium levels leads to increased calcium excretion (ie bone loss).  See the lower left of this link.

My skin became super dry, my bones were aching and felt weak.   I added calcium and my skin and bone pain improved.  I’m still playing around trying to find the optimal dosage and Ca/mg ratio for me.

But the magnesium certainly works.  My chocolate cravings were gone in a couple of days after starting.   just don’t go nuts on the dosage.
