The thing that strikes me as bizarre about the whole Amalgam controversy is why one side--the ADA or whoever--is so adamant about insisting that imbedding something that's composed of part deadly poison in one's teeth is totally 'normal' and 'healthy'--despite the fact that far better alternatives now exist for only a few bucks more, if that.

Sure, there may not be 'concrete' evidence in the form of a study that shows people with Amalgams are X times more likely to get cancer than people without amalgams, but common sense tells us that anyone who grinds their teeth at night (extremely common) is going to wind up swallowing small amounts mercury on a regular basis. And who can argue that swallowing mercury is not a problem. So how can these pro-amalgam people be so outspoken about how 'safe' Amalgams are? If they're so 'safe,' heck, why don't we just start using Amalgam for everything? Eating utensils, braces, jewelry, etc.--I mean, after all, Amalgam mercury is "SAFE" isn't it? (not directed at you Tony, just venting)
