You ideally need skin contact with your Earthing mat or sheet to have it work effectively. If you are wearing very thin cotton clothing, the mat will also work or ground your body. The flow of the earth's energy or free negative electrons or the healing part of Earthing will flow through very thin clothing, but not silk.
