Most of the childhood immunizations are for respiratory communicable diseases - pneumococcal & meningococcal pneumonia, measles, mumps, rubella, haemophilus influenzae type B, rotavirus, pertussis, varicella, and a couple of types of influenza. Lack of clean water and nutrition are not significant contributing factors with these diseases as the specific bacterium and viruses are not waterborne. Only polio, hepatitis and a couple of viruses causing common colds have water as a potential infective source. Typhoid vaccinations are not usually a childhood vaccination except in endemic areas.

Hand washing is always a good preventive measure.
