It should definitely be taken with food.
My very first dose I took after dinner (I started at night), I felt fine. But the next morning I didn't have an appetite so I had some trailmix and a small cup of juice. After 30 min to an hour afterwards bad nausea set in. I thought how can I make this for 10 days. I soon learned over the next few days sometimes I'd take the meds and wouldn't feel much nausea at all (very faint). I soon connected it to what I was eating before meds and how 'important' it is too eat.
All my meals varied. I found it difficult to eat the same foods twice. Once was OK but the 2nd time I tried to eat the same meal it made me sick. My meals were anything...but no Sugar and the only grains I ate was wraps. I included wraps because I felt it was more important to eat to tolerate the meds than restrict my diet so much that I couldn't tolerate them.

We live on a moderate budget and don't eat out...but made an exception and allowed myself to get whatever I wanted (within reason).

Some ideas for breakfast were scrambled eggs, fresh cantelope/watermelon, protein shake.
Breakfast wrap with eggs, tomatos, and spinach, again with a protein shake.
(I bought powdered protein shakes that come in different flavors so I didn't get tired of them.)

Lunch ideas were anything left over for dinner if tolerated, chicken club wraps filled with chicken and lots of veggies, and steamed carrots.

Dinner I had spagetti one night but with gluten free noodles, bbq chicken and mixed veggies, anything you can think of with very very little grains.

If I didn't feel completely full after eating I would drink a glass of organic papaya juice or (again) a protein shake. This would usually do the trick and I could easily tolerate meds.
A few times I'd slip up for instance I had bacon one morning with eggs- I got nausous after that.
It's hard to say but the more chicken I ate with fresh foods it helped. The more processed the foods were the varying degrees of nausea I would get.
It was trial and error. But have found the trick to getting through the rough side effects and being able to function completely is a well rounded meal with lots of protein.
Please keep in mind everyone is different.

I see what your saying about the last dose being at 11pm - this is what made the medicine difficult to take. I would snack until before the meds then before the dose I would eat that meal. So yes, its strange but I ate dinner that late. Our home life was thrown off a bit but I figured it was just for 10 days. 'Anything' to get rid of this.
To me...this was the hardest part.
A few times I would eat my big meal because I was so hungry but it wasnt time to take the meds for a few more hours. So before I would eat something, If I couldnt, a shake. This helped but not as much as before a big full meal. Try to drink a half to full glass of water when 'immediately' taking them too this was really helpful for me.

I hoped this helped. By the way coconut water is a great hydrator. You can find it at health food stores and they come flavored with pineapple and acai. This was great for when water begins to taste funny.
