Which would be fine, if you are talking about something like prayer, or taking some harmless or inert substance, and the placebo effect taking place.

Paper pulp bleach, and pool chemicals, are not inert or harmless substances, they are industrial chemicals, and poisons. So even if the person "feels" better, due to the placebo effect, they could be causing a great deal of harm to their bodies.
