On a side note...

Logically speaking, if one religion does in fact espouse pure truth, would it not be foolish to ignore it?

If you study the Philosophy of Science, one will find that the only possible way to understand absolute truth as flawed, limited humans is to have an infinite being simply tell us what the truth is. Other than that, we're basically stabbing in the dark.
