Hi hghbuzz,

I start breaking the dry fast by slow sipping pure water and observing my body after each swallowing. I tent to keep every sip in my mouth as long as possible, mixing the water with my saliva. I do it for an hour or so. When everything seems to be O.K., I keep on consuming more water, several huge glasses for at least one day. Usually, when I continue my fast by changing it into a water fast, I drink pure water according to the thirst for as many days as I wish to continue my water fast.

However, when I wish to exit my dry fast and return to the regular diet, I still slowly sip pure water for the first several hours until my thirst disappears, but then I usually start drinking the rejuvelac and water - diluted lemon juice; I drink all of the above slowly - trying to mix them with the saliva. I keep drinking them intermittently for 1-2 days or until I desire something else, for example a warm vegetable broth (first made only from one kind of vegetable, then made from more than one kind). Then, I usually start drinking water - diluted vegetable juice, followed by the undiluted veg juice, and then I add some pulp to them. I drink all my liquids slowly to allow them to be mixed with the saliva.

After 1-2 days from the exit from the fast (both Water Fast and a dry fast), I usually have a spontaneous bowel movement (BM). However, to make sure that my bowel is truly free from any toxic wastes created during the fast, I usually consume a special drink that promptly provokes BM. I soak overnight the following dried fruits: raisins, apricots, plums and figs. In the morning I put all the soaked fruits and water, in which they were soaked, in a food processor to change them into pulp. Then, I add to the pulp plenty of warm or cold water and drink all the mixture. Happy BM!

I understand that you are referring to the Filonov's suggestion that a dry fast should be broken differently than the Water Fast and that, instead of diluted juices, a protein rich food should be consumed ASAP to awake the pancreas.

I have never tried to introduce this specific idea into my life because I am afraid to consume protein dense food too soon after any kind of fast. I simply follow the same rules to break any of my fasts. My rationale is as follows: Because my every day diet does contain many protein rich food (since I do not eat any meat and dairy products, and limit my protein- dense- foods to avocado, nuts and seeds, quinoa and some legume), I am not going to consume a protein rich food during such a vulnerable period of time as the exit from the dry fast is.

That is why I do not accept the Filonov's recommendation in regards to the way how to break the dry fast.

I introduce the protein rich food that I consume not earlier than 6 weeks after the breaking of my fasts.

Love,
Anne
