It's taken me a long time to write to you all but it is reassuring to know there are others out there suffering and fighting through this. I'm 27 years old and have always been a health enthusiast. When I was 24 years old I started doing research on anabolic steroids and wanted to get my skinny frame to hit the gym harder. I never was able to really put on good muscle or weight in my teens or early 20's but loved the gym. Over the course of 3 years I started to partake in these illegal substances and started to have side effects. Racing heart beat, chest pains, poor erections, depression, etc. The fall of 2010 I lost my grandpa who was very close to me and underwent a 21-day body cleanse from Standard Process. In the middle of this cleanse I started getting health problems. Terrible hypoglycemic headaches when not eating, incredible sensitivity to foods (just even tasting a substance would give me fatigue). Soon shampoos, too hot of showers, lotions, loud noises, visual disturbances gave me odd reactions. My uneducated nutritionist starting pumping dessicated adrenals to me like up to 4-5 pills a day. I started to feel incredible from them, and then all of a sudden one day my body had it. I ended up in the hospital from taking coffee, Maca, and adrenal dessicate one day because I couldn't maintain my blood pressure upon standing. Very, very weird. I unfortunately went to a anti-aging clinic seeing lab results performed showing my cortisol was high through the day and night, normal DHEA, very low testosterone. She started treating me with HCG and low doses of adrenal glandular, but I became extremely depressed and almost ended up with a restraining order from my ex-gf. My Estradiol levels were off the charts, I knew something was very wrong here. We then later tested my aldosterone levels, which showed up 0 from a blood test. She believed I had hypoaldosteronism, but I wanted a second opinion on all this. I am now under the hands of Dr. Lam and I couldn't be any happier just 1 1/2 weeks in to the program. Wow, best I have felt in a long time I have to say. No isocort, no adaptogens, no glandulars, :) I'm a low clearance case and going slowly but surely. I'm finally getting erections back, sex drive is up, crashes are less severe and recovery is very quick. Once I do conquer this disease I really want to focus my life on educating high school students, collegiate athletes, professionals on the hidden side effects of anabolic steroids. I never knew anabolic steroids could cause adrenal fatigue. Never, only studies have shown abruptly stopping a corticosteroid has been linked to secondary adrenal insufficiency. I have scheduled an appointment with Body Logic MD, but they seem overpriced and don't think they would follow the same logic Dr. Lam with Doreen prescribe. Would anyone think my situation is just hypoaldosterone and not adrenal fatigue, or is it a combination? Thanks again for all your help and advisement, and God Bless.
