phosphatidylserine = derived from soy
BC-phosphatidylserine (BC = bovine cortex) = derived from cow brains
*!* - If using anything derived from soy, be 100% positive it's either 100% organic or certified non-GMO. We can receive benefits from things that are not healthy, but the benefits rarely outweigh the risks. With Genetically-Modified-Organisms substances, I'd have to be at death's door and totally desperate for 'the benefit' before I'd knowingly ingest it.
Apparently the most common side-effects are nausea/stomach upset, diarrhea and insomnia.
The last time I "experimented" with an isolated substance it was after extremely in-depth research (iodine). Not listening to my initial 'red warning flags' about isolated/unnatural supplements is not something I'll repeat again in this lifetime :::sigh::: But of course, I'm only responsible for my body - what you choose to do is totally up to you.
Dr. Christopher would definitely suggest wheat germ oil for lecithin:

If you *must* do an isolate, I suggest sunflower lecithin over soy (and not isolated all the way down to phosphatidylserine. But what I actually suggest is wheat germ oil and or sunflower seeds (and/sunflower sprouts...yum).
