It sounds like hypoglycemia to me. To reverse the condition, the glands must be allowed to recover. This is done by eliminating all foods and beverages that deliver Sugar rapidly-hypoglycemic diet. I took lorazepam for years to battle my insomnia. I cured my 8 year old sleep maintenance insomnia by eating a low GI snack (cheese,nuts or spoon of glycerine in a tea) before going to bed and if I woke up in the middle of the night. You also need to eat every two to three hours before you get hungry.
