If someone else decides that they would like to use that particular name, the pay the patent holder for the use, assuming the patent holder (in this case Disney), allows the use of the trademarked name. So they may make money this way.

Totally agree, a stroke of genius indeed :)

It will be interesting to see what version of the story is made into a movie, if this is the purpose of the patenting is to secure the name.
