I have been seeing an osteopath recently for my neck and between shoulder blades pains. He told me my problem was in the pelvis (SI joint on the left was locked, resulting in a wrong spine curve) and possibly resulted from my pro athletic career. So, after unlocking it along with other spine "locks" I felt better (had 6 treatments), but it was only simple manual therapy and it did not "cure" my problems.
So, I reckon osteopathy is just a temporary solution. Those folks want you to come back... ;)
