Hi There,
I thought I'd weigh in. I didn't use the oral form, I used a bioidentical progesterone cream, but it did have strong positive and negative effects post removal. I used it for three months, and for the first two, it helped IMMENSELY. Like, within a day or so my insomnia was gone, my IBS was 50% better, and my heartburn/reflux dissappeared within weeks.
However, after 3 months of use, I started getting horrible brain fog, blurred vision, many of my Mirena problems returned (UTI's, yeast infections, joint pain), and felt horribly nauseaus all the time. I stopped using the cream after the 3rd month, but it has taken over a year off the cream for these symptoms to disappear.
However, from what I have read, the cream has a much longer half-life than oral progesterone, because it stores itself in your fat and tissues where you rub it in. Oral progesterone is leaves the bloodstream in a few days. I would say, use this, since it can be really helpful, but if you start getting new symptoms or your Mirena symptoms return, definitely think about stopping.
You can look though my posts if you're interested in my experience with bioidentical progesterone cream. I have made a lot of comments about it. I think Melanderoso used it for a short time as well, then stopped because of side effects.
Good luck! Molly
