Hi All, I have some good info that I just got from a new Doctor yesterday, So here I go...
I got a systemic yeast infection due to Antibiotics used 7 months ago. Can not fight the infection even with a very restricted diet and several doses of Fluconazole.
After listening to my symptoms, the Doctor stated that I am very low in Progesterone, too high in estrogen, and that this gives way to Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which in turn makes fighting candidas a never-ending and losing battle. If your hormones are imbalanced so will your thyroid as they are very interconnected!!!So, to the lady's out there who are perimenopausal, go get your hormones checked!!!I have had a "normal range" thyroid test, but that meant nothing to this awsome Doctor! She said that if your estrogen is dominant then the thyroid cannot do its work, the thyroid is vital in fighting infection and can cause autoimmune disorders or upset the ones that I already suffer from, Fibromyalgia and Sjogrens, which are possibly related (for me anyway) sleeping in a moldy basement for 6.5 years! This is what she suggested for me: Progesterone 100mg (cream is more effective)Raw thyroid, iodine, Cod liver oil for the skin, B complex, 4000iu of Vitamine D, liquid iron. Don't get the raw thyroid or Iodine w/out a Doc, or you could be playing w/ fire, also, I was taking Grapefruit-Seed-Extract and drinking coffee, which can imbalance your thyroid even more. Read up on how to balance your thyroid, it is very important. Go see a good Doc and look up progesterone-thyroid online, I did this morning and there is lots out there for us to read, get your ifo and go see a Doctor armed but open minded. From what I read on-line, there are other suppliments out there, I just can't remember them all, like bad cortisol levels and such, hormones are an integrel part of our health, many Doctors overlook the progesterone levels with thyroid problems, making us suffer needlessly, and making us feel stupid to say the least! I really hope that this helps, I read so much about people fighting the yeast monster to no avail. Good Luck, God Bless, and be good to yourselves!!! Sheila
