What you seem to have is a maladsorption syndrome. Being sensitive to gluten (in wheat, barley, rye, sometimes oats) is one of the most common causes of maladsorption and no matter what healthy foods you eat you will not be able to take in the nutrients, vitamins and minerals until this condition is corrected. This one reason is why several people suggested a gluten free diet. Find out from your Drs if you were tested for Celiac Disease and what the results were. You may find The Gluten Syndrome website helpful.
You appear to be on a very low gluten diet now and may have shown false negative results on the Celiac Disease tests if they were done. When a person has been avoiding gluten for months they often become expremely sensitive to very small amounts of gluten and these small amounts may be present in supplements and cross contaminated grains.

If your Drs want you to take one of the meds such as Fosamax for the osteoporosis, if you have Celiac Disease they will not work and may make you ill. The only treatment
for Celiacs is Vit D and Calcium and certain kind of exercise that do not put strain on joints or bones. See Celiac.com Forums for suitable exercises.

I have had difficulty tolerating Vit. A, for a while I couldn't even eat carrots tho was able to eat winter squash. In me this seems to be because most Vit A supplements are made from fish oil and I cannot eat fish. There are some non-fish oil Vit A supplements available online.
