The hepatic portal artery is in blue. Anything/everything absorbed into it heads directly to the liver for processing.
Depending upon the level of toxic build-up in the intestines and colon, and the foodfood/fluids/chyme coming into contact with it (and the transit time and putrefaction of the food before it exits...how many toxins are absorbed into the chyme and how all that putrefies and for how long), it's fairly common for toxic fecal matter to remain in the lower areas of the colon for an unnatural amount of time...causing a vast array of toxins to be absorbed into the hepatic portal and be taken directly to the liver :(
To have the symptoms that have been reported (either directly before or after a bowel movement) is much more common than you'd imagine; some people report extreme nausea. Many people don't make the connection and many people experience it so frequently that it just becomes a 'part of life'. It's very easy to 'see it' in a constipated child...they'll be grumpy, sad, mad, and 'sassy' (and tend to make vast errors in judgment that gets them into trouble). And then 2 minutes after having a bm, they'll be bouncing through the house full of laughter and goodness. (My sister has 4 children and we've talked about this many times).
Since hypoglycemia is so strongly correlated with liver compromise, and toxins to the liver increases the compromise, it's not surprising to see a report of hypoglycemia worsening after a bm.
"You can't have sweet thoughts on a sour stomach" is more than just a phrase, it's actually a physiological truth.
Lots of good information here: http://www.thedoctorwithin.com/colon/Journey-to-the-Center-of-Your-Colon/
and here: Dr Schulze 2001 Bowel Newsletter (remember: constipation = less than 3 healthy bms daily...each should be 20-30 after eating anything substantial)
Tons of information & links here: [FAQ] Healing Cleanse: Colon: Working File Thread
With adrenal issues, bowel cleansing/health is SO integral. Nutrient absorbtion and assimilation is very low (our bodies are not concerning with digestion and assimilation when we're in flight or fight). A thorough 30 day cleanse should be the first place anyone with a health issue starts anyway...but that's especially true with adrenal issues.
Blessings,
Uny
