Male circumcision is not directly addressed
in any declarations of human rights - yet.
However, it is implicitly addressed variously in:

• the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
• the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights
• the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child,
• the United States Declaration of Independence and
• the Constitution
• the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act

• In South Africa, the Children's Act restricts male circumcision tokenistically, while it outlaws female circumcision outright.
• A US judge has referred to a "basic constitutional and common law right to privacy and bodily integrity."
• On December 6, 2008, the Commissioner for Children, Tasmania, issued a press release calling on the [Australian] community to directly address circumcision as a human rights issue.
• Policy of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (UK).
• the Supreme Court sets a limit to religious observance
• In the UK, a competent child has the right to refuse life-saving medical treatment.
