>>"To suggest though that a prospective parent should avoid Iodine is ridiculous and irresponsible."<<

Don't lose sight of the forest through the trees...

We are deficient in nutrients for many reasons, for instance many people may be deficient in calcium because they are deficient in other nutrients that help the body retain calcium and better utilize it, like potassium, magnesium, boron, vitamins A, D, and K, etc., not because they do not consume enough.

Same is true with other nutrients including iodine.

These disagreements would not exist if our environment, our air, water and food supply were clean and free of chemical contaminants. In addition, nutritional needs would fall due to our bodies not having to constantly deal with the ubiquitous toxins and environmental contaminations.

Many people choose not to consume *seafoods* including sea vegetables due to the state and condition of the oceans... that leaves supplementing for things like iodine... unfortunately with a chemical product or salt.

Not a bad idea if that is their only alternative. However, Brownstein and others have seen nutritional sufficiency reached in a year with 12.5 mg doses in the most deficient folks... so it does not take much... and once reaching sufficiency, dose can be cut quite a bit in most cases.

We must remember that when using isolates, or specific salts, we must be somewhat aware of other necessary nutritional needs in order to compliment them, make best use of them, and utilize them as best we can without stressing the body's resources.

And again, this should be done before conception.

That we are having these discussions at all is a distraction away from the need to focus our energies on holding the companies responsible for contaminating the air, water and food, also responsible for cleaning them up... after all, they are the one's exacerbating these issues.

Man caused the problems we are up against... the bulk of them caused by industries hell bent on profit at any cost.
