There's no doubt that 'more microbiota' is better than less, and there's no reason kefirs & fermented produce juices can't be included in the juice fasting or diet - it's a goodness we should all be encouraged to add to our protocol.

But there's folks that have seriously compromised digestive tracts. Many times when they ingest foods/kefirs that are laden with microbiota it causes all varieties (even severe) of cramping, nausea, explosive diarrhea and strong detoxification that the organs/body just aren't equipped to handle.

Ray's a good example...even an accidental 'liver flush' into a colon containing SSRI/Accutane resin triggered symptoms so extreme that a trip to the ER happened (or almost happened, I can't remember). This was likely from the bile soaking through the chemically-laden mucoid plaque and going straight back to his liver/bloodstream.

Microbiota can act as 'scrubbing bubbles' in the colon...so ingesting all kinds of critters could release a substantial amount of toxins that a compromised body cannot expel or neutralize.

That means additional compromise. If the organs of elimination and neutralization can't even keep up with their daily toxin burden, releasing more poisons into the bloodstream isn't the best idea, eh?

Balance & flow are the name of the game.

The first time I ingested dairy kefir, I had 1/2 cup, and within days was having 1-2 cups. I had a few more bowel movements for a couple of days and a sense of 'goodness'. Other than that, no reaction. But hey, how LONG have I been working on healing & cleansing my body? YEARS. Sheesh, I haven't had a 'candy bar or soda' for well over 5 years. My idea of 'being bad' is too much homemade organic sourdough bread, or an extra couple of squares of Green & Black's organic chocolate (although I am human and I occasionally do have 'restaurant thai or mexican', or eat a plate of 'traditional' with my family on holidays).

On the other hand, I'm a member of a "kefir forum" on Yahoo, and I see reports almost every week of people ingesting less than 1/4 cup of raw milk kefir that then report EXTREME diarrhea, massive symptoms of toxins in the bloodstream, liver & kidney pain, headaches, nausea, rashes, etc.

We must remember, that all the cultures throughout history that had ferments & kefirs (which is all of them), were populated by humans that had been breastfed and then started eating them as soon as they were weaned. These peoples NEVER developed the level of compromise, congestion or toxicity that we do today.

How long before the intestinal tract is 'clean enough' to provide the right terrain for strong recolonization? That depends upon a myriad of factors.

We know Dr. Christopher's patients (for colon: taking only LBB and doing assorted reflexology, castor oil packs and of course, the Mucusless Diet and other protocols) reported getting out mucoid plaque for a couple of years.

Dr. Schulze added the IF#2 and high enemas (and/or colonics) which speeds things up significantly.

Miss H did about 6 months of IF#1/IF#2 with 3 of those months of pretty much 'full' IPing. She was still getting out various 'colon junk' in the 6th month.

My guess would be (for someone that's aggressive and dedicated)? At least a year, but likely longer. Like I mentioned, the amount of variables is huge so there's really no way to 'say'.

The more microbiota we add as we progress, the more 'scrubbing happens' (along with so many other benefits). But those benefits may be 'dosage dependent' until the microbiota have rebalanced and colonized.

Another concern I have... (:::grinning::: you know me...when everyone is 'screaming benefits' and jumping on the bandwagon as it's speeding down the road, I'm looking for the possible downside and potential for harm)...is that people will do a couple of months of cleansing while taking the kefirs/ferments, and think they're "good to go". It's just not that simple. In fact, with virtually everything we ingest having some small amount of fluoride or other 'antibacterial toxin' (even when our diet is PERFECT), the process of recolonization of microbiota is likely never complete.

So, my current thinking is that when someone is extremely toxic and showing symptoms of the same...less may actually be better until a decent level of 'flow' is achieved. Yes, the microbiota help achieve the flow, but so does bile. And we know that dumping/flushing a toxic liver into a clogged & congested colon is unwise (even though unclogging the liver and getting adequate bile flow is a goodness).

Progress is a process - a process where the right balance is integral...especially for those that are seriously compromised.

Blessings,

Uny
