GREAT post Spud!!!
I appreciate your opinion, but respectfully disagree Webmaster.
The post on how to debate, started well, but degenerated into a troll fest, only after a few replies.
Personal attacks by forum owners have and are tolerated on CZ, and in your own forum.
Totally agree. And when I sent multiple complaints to the WM they were ignored for the most part, then he came back and blamed me for everything saying I called Tony a liar several times. Apparently he never bothered to look at the numerous attacks Tony did against me and totally ignored the fact that all the attacks were started by others including Tony. This is why I am so fed up with what is going on in CZ. There is no rhyme or reason to how TOS is enforced other than the fact it all boils down to who you are friends with. Just like prison, you have to join a gang for protection.
This is just one example:

Yes, this is a great example of the attacks committed by Tony on other posters. In fact this was the lowest attack I have ever seen on CZ, yet Tony was never banned from the board. In fact he was never disciplined in any way for his severe TOS violation. Same with all his attacks against me. Instead the trolls here on CZ hail him like some kind of hero.
You can't get more personal, than bringing up someone's health issue, as a means to discredit and attack them. Yet that remains unaltered, on your forum. In some ways I'm glad, because it allows everyone to see the other side of this current problem.
Yes, same reason I keep bringing it up. When I was quiet about it the WM kept ignoring my complaints about all the attacks being started against me and how I was being banned for defending myself against the attacks. Yet the PMs for the most part went unanswered. Now that it is being made really public the WM is finally getting up off his a** to do at least a little something about the problem!!!

Even asking for a new forum gets the personal attacks coming thick and fast. They are still there as well, not deleted or hidden.
This is the thread, so you can see what I'm talking about.

What is unfortunate, is that there are some good posts in amongst the attacks, the attacks add nothing to the thread, and could be deleted easily.
I'm all for forum owners setting a good example, but if this is to be something that happens on CZ, then all forum owners must do this, not just some.
Forum owners, also deserve to be protected from attacks, by the enforcement of the TOS, just as all CZ members should be, and to have the rules (TOS) applied equally to all members.
Again in total agreement with all the above.
While I understand that this can be difficult with such a big website, it is such an important part of a website devoted to helping people get healthy. There is nothing healthy about being personally attacked, it is damaging to the person as well as to the website as a whole.
Yes, and it should be considered a TOS violation when posts are made against individuals for the purpose of harassment instead of discussing what is supposed to be the topic of CZ, which is health.
I also have a suggestion, that I would like to put forward respectfully Webmaster. I would like to suggest, that if there are concerns with the moderation of someone's posts. That there is an avenue to have the decision reviewed.
I realise that people can contact you directly, but this would be an unnecessary burden on you,
On the other hand there would be very little reason to contact the WM if the Terms of Service were enforced equally so that attacks and debates are not escalated. Again something I brought up to the WM in a PM but was totally ignored.
that could be put to say, a panel of moderators, from diverse forums, (avoiding the cliques that can occur), and have them look at a decision, much like reviewing an umpires decision.
Moderators could also ask others for their help, if they have a particularly sticky decision to make. This has happened to me in the past, and I wished I could have contacted another moderator, to help with knowing what to do. The problem is, is that I don't know most of the mods, or any global mods, and as most are anonymous, there is no way to contact them. Perhaps a list of moderators could be given to other moderators, so that they can be contacted if needed, this list does not need to be public, to protect the anonymity of those mods that wish to stay anonymous.
Thank you for your consideration,
spud
Hopefully some changes for the better are going to be implemented, but I am not going to hold my breath waiting.
