Yes - we sound A LOT alike. My dad is an engineer, too - definitely Asperger traits there.
Have had similar difficulties having conversations with other women, too - one reason I'm in the computer field I guess? I work with mostly men or similar type women. Growing up, my sister, who is definitely not Asperger's would only have that type of conversation. I have just learned to smile and do my best to stay focused. It's definitely a challenge!
Also, have had similar situations where I think I'm being social and have other folks tell me I'm not. EEK! It can be overwhelming sometimes.
I try to be a good listener. That sometimes is beneficial in establishing relationships. It also takes some pressure off me to have to talk. :v) LOL
I'm challenging myself right now by trying to be friends with a lady who lives up the road from me. We are opposites! She is VERY talkative & calls several times a day, which is WAY beyond me. This may be good for me to stretch my social ability? :v) I try to challenge myself since this is such a weak area for me!
Any social challenges you are working on?
PS - I have been a vegetarian on and off for a long time, so I appreciate that, too. Trying to figure out how to go about it next time, so it will work for me. Any ideas are appreciated there.
