Geothermal exploration drilling, has been happening around my area, and the results look very promising for this to be a source of renewable energy.

Australian Geothermal drill gets the job done

Australian company Globe Drill has successfully trialled a new geothermal drilling technology.

The GT3000 completed a small systems test drill hole in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, during which rotation, feed, cooling, filtration, dust suppression, drill cutting containment, rod handling and mobilisation all functioned well.


The next challenge for the GT3000 is to drill a 2–3 km hole into a hard-rock granite formation in Merredin, Western Australia. The GT3000 has been transported to Merredin.
