Hello everyone,
I am an interior design graduate student working on my thesis which is pulmonary rehabilitation. I am designing a pulmonary rehabilitation outpatient clinic for my final project and I am looking for ideas on how to make the space as welcoming and uplifting as possible. I lost my mother to lung cancer 4 years ago and my father also suffers from COPD and emphysema so this project is very dear to my heart. I have visited a few rehabilitation spaces and feel that they are functional yet not as comforting or welcoming as they could and should be. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you could offer and have listed a few questions that will help to drive my design. Thank you so much for your time, I really hope to improve an aspect of health care that seems to have been neglected when it comes to considering the way environment can effect the user and improve quality of life. Please answer the following questions if you have the chance:
1.What kind of environments do you find to me soothing and promote a safe/comforting retreat? Why
2.What is your perception of comfort?
3.What places do you consider to be uplifting and a safe haven from worry, fear and stress?
4.What colors do you find calming? What colors, if any, make you feel anxious or uneasy?
5.Which environment appeals to you the most:
A. Beach
B. Mountains
C. Forrest
D. Lake
E. Open field
F. Dessert landscape
Thank you again!!
