You may be sensitive to malic acid which isn't usually a problem when it is eaten as fruit. It may irritate the intestines, cause internal hives and this can refer pain to the area of the abdomen that is associated with the gallbladder and liver pain. Malic acid should be used with care when people have delicate skin conditions. It is sometimes used in skin lotions, so if you think you are sensitive you may need malic free cosmetics.
