Thankfully once I cut the offending foods, and stuck to raw veggies and vegetable soup cooked in chicken broth, my symptoms went away quickly -- I feel like a new man! No doctor's trip necessary, so sorry guys, can't confirm my diagnosis was correct (though following a Candida-inhibiting diet for only 48 hours has absolutely changed me).

Hemherrhoids now, worst ones of my life (I'm extremely prone to them genetically, not helped by my previous diet). Fasting may be 'safe', but it can certainly have consequences!
