Dealing with severe nerve pain in groin area by SG01 ..... Neurology Forum

My mother as really severe pain in the right side groin area, nom she had surgery to remove her gallbladder a few days ago, and she also had pancreatitis 2 times, so she spent a long time in bed. Now her pain is much worse!

She feels it along the low back going down her right thigh, but mostly in the groin area.

Before the surgery she couldn't sit down, because the pain was unbearable, but if she layed in bed the pain would reduce. Now she is in pain no matter how she puts her body.

I feel very sorry for her :(

She always had a bit of pain in that area but nothing as this serious. But after chemoteraphy for Breast Cancer she the bones in her skull got a bit deformed, and the spine in her low back went more inside, the curvature increased a lot and the pain begun to really increase.

She went to many doctors, one of them gave her gabapentin and she took only one pill and she got better from the pain, but she couldn't bear the drug due to strong allergic reactions so she no longer took anymore pills.

The doctor told her there was nothing else that could be made for the pain. This doctor also told her she had "meralgia parasthetica". But from my personal research that refers to pain mostly in the leg, yet her pain is in the groin area.

But now the has pain and burning sensations all over her low back, groin, tigh and knee. Both sides hurt, but the right side hurts more.

Before this surgery and the pancreatitis, she used to make an exercise that got her some relief: it consisted in standing in all fours and raising one leg at the time, like the picture:

but without the weight and without bending the leg up.

My question is: given this background, what might be the nerves and muscles that are causing her pain?

Why did this exercise help? which muscles and nerves are helped by this exercise? Which others exercises could we try out?
