I'm having trouble getting my head around some problems with magnesium supplementation. I've had a red cell magnesium done, which shows my magnesium is actually normal. I've suffered with disabling cfs/fibromyalgia, candida, malabsorption, mcs for about 5 years now and refuse to believe that my magnesium levels are normal based on that test.

I've tracked down a few other problems I'm having that I believe are caused by magnesium deficiency. I'm unable to tolerate vit d supplementation. It increases my fatigue, muscle pain and makes me emotionally unstable. I've noticed that a small amount of magnesium post vit d decreases this. Apparently vit d metabolism uses up magnesium.

Also finding that I can't tolerate my pyroluria protocol and I believe it's because zinc is a magnesium antagonist, and b6 kicks enzymes back into action that use magnesium.

The problem with magnesium is, that I can't tolerate supplementation of it. If I take any more then a tiny amount, I become highly strung, sound sensitive, light sensitive, short of breath and at times heart palpitations and cramps. With calcium its marginally better but still eventually I develop side effects.

I'm suspecting I am deficient in other nutrients necessary for magnesium's proper function or balancing of calcium and magnesium.

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me! :(
Feel like my treatment is being foiled by a big maze of nutrient interrelationships!

I think if I can get my magnesium levels back up, all my other treatments that just plain aren't working right now will be so much more effective and tolerable. My muscle pain is horrendous when going through candida die off. This seems to be better when I can supplement magnesium, but I just can't sustain it.

Sorry about the long winded post!
