Hi BaDnOn,

I'm very impressed that you managed to do this yourself!

I and my family are still infected with dientamoeba fragilis. We have been treated several times. I have had the triple treatment: secnidazole, nitazoxanide, furazolidone and I also took doxy because I also have blasto. I felt terrible during the treatment but great for a few months after. Unfortunately, my family were only treated with metranidazole and their follo up tests came back negative it was assumed that they were clear. After a few months I was symptomatic again and I believe I was reinfected. Later on, when subsequent testing showed most of us to be positive for df again, we went on a treatment of: ornidazole, cotrimoxazole, doxycycline, and diloxanide. It didn't touch any of my symptoms (much the same as yours). I haven't got it in me to go through another round of testing; there are 7 of us and at 3 samples each that's 21 samples per test. None of the kids are very keen on testing or treatment and I feel terrible about treating them since their symptoms are not so severe. I think I will have to wait until they are either older or have left home before I continue looking for a cure. Please note that there is a researcher in Sydney Australia (Damien Stark, St Vincent's- you can google him and add dientamoeba fragilis) who has done much research on this using PCR detection methods. He has written a case report on two separate families ha have experienced reinfection. It's worth searching for this paper. If you can't find it check my previous posts.

Sorry for the tome but knowledge is power; more power to you.

Good luck
