licorice is also a bile stimulant. if your gall bladder is congested (likely) and you stimulate bile release it can mimic hypoglycemic symptoms.

if it is your pancreas, Liver Cleansing will also help this. or you can try the herb gymnema sylvestre to rebuild the pancreas.

or you can try the lam eating protocol of protein/carb/fats all together at each meal.

there are other adaptogens if licorice doesn't work for you, it's not the end of the world

have you also tried DGL licorice?
