I don't think doctors make a big deal out of prescribing Diflucan once a clinical diagnosis has been made. It's just that doctors generally make a big deal out of doing any tests to actually get a clinical diagnosis in the first place! Doctors usually say that Candida only affects people who are severely immunocompromised such as AIDS or Cancer patients, or they just dismiss you altogether telling you that Candida is some make believe condition. Then they refuse to prescribe any anti-fungal medication for you. Not saying this happens all the time but from the stories i've heard from other people, this seems to be the norm when dealing with doctors. My doctor wasn't even looking for Candida when she found it in me. I kinda wonder if she would have even agreed to do the upper endoscopy on me had I mentioned anything about Candida from the beginning....

This is so true. Walk in to see a GI specialist in the US and mention candida, and youre more likely to get a referral to a psych for ssri's than any kind of diagnostic test that might actually help you.

I gave up on getting any help from modern medicine. The docs I've met are clueless about GI health. They seem too caught up in their own egos and opinions to even take the time to listen to the patient. Waste of time.
