In March it will be a year since I quit after nearly 35 years. During that time I probably tried ( unsuccessfully) to quit about 10 times or so. What I will do here is tell you what I did differently this past March and then let you draw your own conclusions. Basically I did two things different than before.

1 - from advice from another person here at Curezone, I switched the brand I smoked to a roll-your-own kind. This was tobacco advertised as organic, additive - free. The main purpose of this step is to quit and withdrawl from all the additives the cig corps add to their product to help make it quite difficult for people to quit. Then after some time ( in my case 3 years ) , when you go to quit you are only going to be withdrawing from the tobacco, not all the poisons that are added to branded cigs.
The original advice I was given was to smoke this roll - your - own brand for 1 year to give the body a chance to adapt to the lack of all those poisons it was unwittingly addicted to.... but I liked the tobacco so much I smoked it for 3 years before I finally set my quit-date and then got myself mentally prepared.

2 - the night before the day that I had targeted to quit I got down on my knees and asked God Almighty to help me give up this filthy disgusting habit.

The third step - picking a day in adavace to quit - is important as it helps to get you in the right frame of mind ahead of time. I believe all three were important steps but like I said, now you can draw your own conclusions.
