Yes, vitamin C and salt can increase uptake of iodide by sodium-iodide symporters. That's not the same thing as taking them at the same time. Take the Lugol's in water on an empty stomach. Take the vitamin C later. SSKI, salt, and vitamin C can be combined. That's the uptake problem. However, you may also have an organification problem, which is where iodide is turned into iodine in the thyroid cells. (I wonder if the elemental iodine portion of Lugol's plugs directly in here, whereas iodide needs to be organified to plug in properly.) Organification requires niacin, and earlier in thyroid hormone production, both B2 and B3 are needed. That's the function of ATP Cofactors. Each tab has 100 mg B2 and 500 mg inositol hexanicotinate, the nonflushing version of niacin. In one example I saw in Dr. Brownstein's iodine book, he had the patient use one ATP Cofactors morning and night. I need two a.m., two noon, and one night, which might give you a range of possible usage. I love the ATP Cofactors, but I don't know why you couldn't come up with your own combo.
