I'm sorry I can't be of much help, but I wanted to say that should you decide to take the crestor or any other statin drug, make sure you take CoQ10 with it. Statins lower the level of Q10 in the body, and could be the cause of your mucsle aches. My dad unfortunately takes statins, but the q10 really helps him. you should take 50 to 100mg daily.

Also you said you cut out bad fats, but did you replace them with good fats? Perhaps you aren't eating enough fat.
