I think your swallowing the peel and getting it stuck has damaged your esophagus somewhere. Thus the pain.

My Grandma used to get food 'Stuck' on the little lever that closes off the lungs/stomach (depending on what is coming down the pipe) all the time and would not be able to eat until it cleared out, and it was very painful.

If the Peel has cleared as you say then you are in the Heal stage.

Your Dr is telling you that you have damaged a part of your esophagus close to a nerve that also carries pain signals from other parts of your body IE your chest pain. So you think it is your chest hurting when it is your throat that is actually damaged.

I doubt that the Peel is still in your stomach.

If damage is the case then complete fast and concentrated stomach acid may be compounding your problem.

Maybe you should try mixing up a batch of Master Cleanse lemonade and try sipping it throughout the day. It is known to cure stomach ulcers and would aid in healing any part of your digestive system that has been damaged.
