Iolite, I want to thank you for your sound suggestions. I don't know if the original poster has checked back, but the suggestions are sensible and sound.

My biggest question is this: why do conventional physicians not mention this condition as a possible root cause for so many devastating and "mysterious" symptoms? Fibromyalgia, for instance, now seems to be the diagnosis-du-jour to explain symptoms that were once considered to be psychologically induced. Even with the "explanation" of what it is, treatment is very ineffective and side effects far more damaging than the benefits. Sheeeeeeeeeesh!
