Chiron, they are good questions you are asking, and with any science, questioning is welcomed. I think, even if they are using Genetically-Modified crops, they are going to make plastic that will biodegrade, and that is a far better solution than what we now have. At the moment we use petroleum products to make plastics, as well as other polluting and harmful chemicals, these plastics do not degrade, and remain polluting the environment for centuries.

As we are not going to be ingesting these products, and the product will not have the same chemical makeup of the Genetically-Modified crop, I think this could be a very good thing for the environment.

I would much rather see less use of plastics, and more reusable packaging and containers, than just a substitute for plastics, but that will take a big change in the way people think and live, but I will remain optimistic :)
