Thanks for your great words, Spud.

I wish I knew a fraction of the plants you do. I'm an armchair gardener, especially since I had a stroke, July 15th, 2009. (Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today! Perhaps tomorrow you can't. ...Terrible frustrating.)

And...learn about groundwater...even go back to school!

Groundwater cleans itself, and it only must travel a few feet over rocks.

Powerful, eh?

Some food plants will grow very long roots to reach water below. I have read that they grow as much as 24 feet.

We lived in a house that was only about 8 feet above the aquafer (groundwater table)...and no man-made chemicals had been used on the land for at least 30 years.

Darn trouble was, the landlady had a live-in who's whole existance revolved around chopping and spraying. Everything the former owner planted, over thirty years, was considered a weed. They poured three loads of sand/soil over her marvelous herb and vegetable garden...to "level" it...which killed the pear tree because it was buried too deep. The peach and apricot survived that onslaught, but not the chopping and pruning.

This jerk came on the property at any time of any day and we would awake to find him looking in our windows. He had already been warned by letter from the Rentalsman's office.

I won't go on. There's not enough room on this website.

(Gr-r-r!)

Go back to school and learn all you can about groundwater...then go out and find some, for free...and scatter all the seeds you expect to flourish, and more.

(Artesian wells spring up between mountains sometimes, if you know where to drill.)

If you show people how to harvest, or do it for them, you may save a genius or two who will save the world.

Explore no-till...some wonderful people are making impressive documentaries.

And see the National Geographic Channel's "Known Universe" series. You'll understand why I suggest it when you see it.

There is hope, my friends.

Never underestimate what just one person can do...even if they just think wise and good thoughts. Encourage yourself and everyone. We'll make it.

I think you are grand. Yes, YOU!

Fledgling
