Hypothyroid is one of the biggest causes of infertility. She shouldn't stop synthroid, it's really possible that she's being underdosed. She might need a bit more synthroid, does she have any other hypo symptoms that have not gone away with synthroid? It's common to be underdosed as doctors go by test results and not how you feel, if your in range then they often won't chnage the dose, even if you have symptoms. It sucks.

There is a supplement called Maca that is excellent for hypothyroid and other hormonal/endocrine problems. It's a plant, you can buy it in capsules. It will make you extra fertile when you take it as well!
