Yes, they are anti-protozoa but Antibiotic too. For that reason, I wrote you to take an antifungal together. It is hard for me to believe a fungal overgrowth be extremely powerful to don't subside with the therapy you have done. I honestly don't believe you have giardias. Now, that you mentioned about mercury and heavy metals, I am more concerned about that. It could be really interesting if you could get a H2S urine test. On the other hand, I know current oral antifungals can not reach a fungicidal level inside the cells to kill the fungus totally. Nystatin, Natamicin, and Amp B are fungicidals but don't penetrate the ephitelial cells. The azoles, which are systemics, are fungistatic. So, in a few words, we need systemic fungicidal drugs to kill the intracellular fungus. This is the reason because our battle is so hard. The only weapon we have against an intracellular fungus is the immune system. (cell-mediated) Look at this, normal people who are immune competent need Antibiotic when they get a bacterial infection. What happen if you get an intracellular bacteria and don't take Antibiotics ?? The infection spread and you probably die. It shows clear our immune system isn't able to overcome an infection one time it has been adquired. Fortunately, the Antibiotics are powerful bactericidal... the cidal part is what we don't have with the antifungals... Taking an Antibiotic that reach the cells at cidal levels, will kill the bacterial pathogen in a matter of days. With antifungals, we have to take the systemic fungistatic, follow the diet, and look for any immune suppression to be lucky with the treatment. It is my thought, antifungals alone can not end the job, neither the immune system alone even when it is really strong. It is a drug combination, a good diet, immune restauration, and god's hands that can save us.
Jorge.
