What you described could be caused by many common conditions, some of which are just an inconvenience and others which may constitute a serious health risk. In my opinion its unlikely that you have contracted something from your canine from what you described. In my practice I have seen this condition often associated with unprotected anal sex. It's unclear if the worm has been lying dormant for a period of time and is simply aggravated by the activity or one partner passes it to the other. While the phenomena is rare it is significantly concerning when this occurs because it is likely associated with transmittal of other stds as I have seen. Not only should you take a regimented product to cure yourself of the worm you should also consult your physician for a blood panel for std's if you are at risk.
