E.R,
You mentioned "reckless sleep". I need to talk with you about that. My dreams are full of tension and/or frenetic activity. Last night, I was at a boxing school and wanted to learn how, and they told me they would not accept me as a student. Then, I realized that I had to get back home and I had to hitchhike or walk the railroad tracks for 30-40 miles.
That is an example of the tension in my dreams. I am often in the situation of "not being able to get home" or having two homes and "needing to get to the other one".
I have a feeling that although these striving dreams fraught with tension can be the RESULT of A.F., that they are adding to the adrenal burden in that my subconscious is taking what is happening in the dreamstate literally, and putting out cortisol and epinephrine at night, while I sleep.
Mainstream psychology accepts the fact that the subconscious accepts the dream as real.
If this is true, then I am wondering if my level of sleep should be addressed directly, or if proper support for the adrenals will improve both my sleep level and dream content.
Are you saying that when you made a conscious decision to be more flexible with your sleep/rest times that your level and quality of sleep deepened and improved? Did your dreams become more peaceful?
Thank you for your suggestion. I am now going to try to go back and get a little "shut-eye" around 7:30-8:00a.m.
Soon, I am going to get my saliva test results and will be able to embark on a treatment plan. Part of that plan, I think, will be to log my dreams to see if there is a change in tenor.
Paul
