Hi Paul,

I am also having sleep problem during AF (and gotten worse when my toothache come). At first, I tried to follow the guidelines (go to bed around 10, sleep until 9 in the morning.) However, I noticed my body just won't cooperate that way. If I tried to sleep ard 10, I still get up (go to toilet, mind very active, etc) and eventually fall asleep ard 12. And sometimes I can wake up ard 4 am and very energize. At first it was very annoying and frustrating to get my body follow the recommended sleeping hour. Even when I get to sleep, it's not the 'deep sleep', but more or less reckless sleep (and got nightmares/weird dreams).

Then finally I realized that what my body needs is a rest. So, whenever my body wants to sleep (don't care if it's in the morning or early evening), when I am really tired, I just sleep. Now I less worried if I sleep in the morning I can't fall asleep at night (since last time i tried to do that and it doesn't work). If I happened to wake up earlier, I tried to busy myself until I tired and go back to sleep. Since I was more relax about sleeping (and supported by the right nutrition), I got the quality sleep back (deep sleep, woke up refreshed). Now I don't care too much of 'rule', I just relax and sleep whenever I can. At night, if I lay down on my bed and can't sleep, I just lay down and relax and not stressing on why I haven't sleep though it's 2 a.m. already. Slowly I can fall asleep. I realized that rest is what my body needs. And it works for me so far. After months of depriving rest, now I can taste a deep sleep and wake up refreshed.

So, relax, and follow your body. What important is your body getting the rest they need. No need to stress over the ideal time, after all, our body knows what they need.

Hope this help,

ERM:)
