EDIT - tried some parsley tea and the pain is worse again, now all over my back - a little bit concerned.

This really sounds like an issue of calcium oxalate stones.  You should avoid oxalate sources which include parsley.  Here is a link with foods containing oxalates:

http://www.seekwellness.com/incontinence/low-oxalate-diet.htm

Some herbs are also high in oxalates such as rhubarb root, sorrel, yellow dock, purslane and cat's claw.

Excess vitamin C in the body also breaks down in to oxalic acid.  So do not take high levels of vitamin C.
