Grapefruit contains naringenin and bergamottin, which inhibit the cytochrome P450 isoform CYP3A4 enzymes in the liver. It is via inhibition of this enzyme that grapefruit increases the effects of simvastatin, terfenadine, felodipine, nifedipine, verapamil, estradiol, midazolam, tacrolimus, cyclosporine and other medicaments.

I am not aware that lemon juice contains naringenin and bergamottin; by switching to lemon, you may be eliminating a desirable synergy. There are probably a lot of articles on the net concerning these two compounds.
