Chaz, what is discovered is not immediately revealed to the public, because scientists are a cautious lot. The media and the so called alternative media, will use any discovery, even the discovery of a bacteria that can live in a toxic environment, to try and discredit scientists, (particularly in the last few years, where people assume that anyone with a scientific education is somehow corrupt or evil).

Scientists have theorised about this for many years, and this is just another discovery in a long line of discoveries, concerning life forms, that live, in what we would consider extreme environments. A great deal of inventions, and technologies, have arisen from this research.

I'm with Snooz on this one, I think it is a step forward in science, and exciting for those who are interested in new discoveries, and the implications of those discoveries. I take an optimistic view, rather than the pessimistic view that I see on many internet sites.
