Etienne,
Oral Amp B and Nystatin are Fungicidal but don't cross the bloodstream. They are affective against the free yeast or fungus living outside the cells. They kill the extracellular fungus. Unfortunately, the oral systemic drugs we have are Fungistatic so the intracellular fungus don't die. This is the weakest part of the treatment and the reason because we can not cure it easy. We need a FUNGICIDAL drug circulating in the bloodstream. We already have fungicidals that act outside the cells but we don't have the systemic. I am sure if we could have IV Cancidas for a month plus a local fungicidal drug in the gut such as Amp B, bye, bye Candida. How can it survive to the poison ??? When the intracellular infection disaper, the ephitelial inflammation abates and the leaky gut corrects. You can have your bowel benefical flora back, but if the fungal infection is intracellular, the flora can not end with it. I am not sure if long term fungistatic systemic drugs plus a non-systemic fungicidal such as Nystatin can end with the intracellular form. We have to think that a very small part of the Nystatin cross the lining and it may have some effect killing the intracellular infection. Nystatin can not get the bloodstrem because is very toxic to our cells.
Jorge.
