I wouldn't recommend this way, but a stroke stopped me... by fledgling ..... Addiction: Tobacco: Quit Smoking

...50 years of smoking, without inhaling...just in the top of my bronchial tubes.

June, 2009 I refused to smoke indoors and dh drove me up on the hill overlooking the airport, three or four times per day, which we both enjoyed.

I got down to about 12 cigs per day that way.

July 15th I had a stroke...and no one offered me a cig in hospital.

When I found that cigarette cravings did not accumulate, and cause me to feel like screaming, I just allowed the desire to smoke one hang there.

In about 5 minutes the desire disappeared...always.

That's how I've managed for 16 and one half months. A couple of times I've wanted one fairly badly...for about 5 minutes...and once I very nearly smoked one of the three in my 'stash' during a bad fight.

I found that the fight put pressure on my weak adrenal glands and the cig looked like relief.

The person I was fighting with was shocked that I would reach for one, and isn't subjecting me to the tension any more. I have only had to remind him once, light-heartedly.

:)

I think I am becoming more skilled in my dotage. He-he.

If I can stop so easily, anyone can.

All I need to know now is how long before all the toxins are cleared out. Nobody seems to know...not even the folks at Rehab.

My best to your husband, Angel.

Five minutes at a time is manageable.

Fledgling

Oh yes...always I forget the craving by going on with the next thing in my day.

F.
